Legwork

Terms

What we do, what we don’t, and where things sit between you, your Pro and us.

A plain statement of how Legwork works, written to be understood. Formal terms are being prepared with proper advice — this page will be replaced by them, not contradicted.

What Legwork does

You describe a job. We work out what it needs, take it to Pros who can do it, and arrange one — not four — to price it and do the work. We keep you told where it’s up to.

The price you’re quoted includes what we make. There is no separate fee, no subscription, and nothing to pay to get a price.

Who does the work

Your Pro does, and the agreement to do the work is between you and them. They are an independent business, not a Legwork employee.

We choose who to put in front of you and we stand behind that choice in the sense that we made it deliberately and will make it again if it goes wrong. We are not the tradesperson.

Money

Legwork does not take or hold your money. You pay your Pro directly. Approving a price on your job page means you’re happy with the work and the number — it charges nothing.

Holding customer money on the way through is a licensed activity in Australia, and if we ever do it, it will be through a licensed provider and it will be obvious on the page. It is not something that will appear quietly.

Things we have not built

Being straight about this matters more than looking established, so:

  • No escrow. We do not hold funds between you and your Pro.
  • No automated licence verification. We record licence details for the trades that need one, and a Pro without one is not put forward for that work. We are not yet checking those numbers against the state registers, so we do not describe anyone as “verified”. That check is planned.
  • No insurance cover from us. Your Pro carries their own. We do not add any.
  • No workmanship guarantee from us. Whatever warranty your Pro gives is theirs, and your rights under Australian Consumer Law are unaffected by anything on this page.
  • No formal dispute process. If something goes wrong, message us on the job — or write to help@asklegwork.com — and a person will take it on. That is a person helping, not a procedure with stages and timeframes, and we would rather say so than imply one exists.

Using the site

Describe jobs you actually want done, and give us details that are true — a Pro plans their day around what you wrote. Don’t upload photos you don’t have the right to share.

We may decline a job or close an account where the site is being misused. In practice that means abuse of a Pro, or jobs nobody intends to go ahead with.

Changing your mind

Nothing is committed until you approve a price, and declining is a tap. Once a job is booked, a Pro has set aside time for it — tell us as early as you can and we’ll sort it out with them.
